The Other Day

So the other day my friend throws me the keys to the abandoned gas station she apparently owns and says, “black out the windows. OR do the whole thing.”. So I was all like, “Fuck” not only am I gonna do the whole thing, but I’m gonna do it with purple paint. I honestly didn’t even think of why she might own an abandoned gas station. I just rolled with it. So we painted the entire abandoned gas station that my friend owned in purple. So here is where it gets interesting. I called my friend who is a DJ and asked him if he would be willing to DJ an impromptu day time party in an abandoned gas station that was painted purple. Being the cool 25-35 year old that he was he of course said “yes”. Apparently my friend who tossed me the keys to this abandoned party lair had a hook up with the local liquor store and got a bunch of cases of Smirnoff Ice. AWESOME. Cuz Smirnoff Ice is like the most important part of a random meeting/party with the coolest 25-35 year old Americans in my opinion. So we got some ice. Threw it in some old sinks and put the Smirnoff Ice in there. The party was ready to ROCK. Next step was to call our friends. Everyone that I knew personally were just being super alternative/successful at the time I called them so of course they were game. Same with everyone else who came so you know it was gonna be a good time. The one stipulation we had was that you had to come with some head gear and or upper body gear (preferably glasses, helmets, or sunglasses) with lights on them. Christmas lights or little spotlights…Whatever. As long as it had cool ass lights. So of course everyone showed up with lights on their glasses etc. It was incredible. We made everyone come in in the pitch dark and stand there. Thing was that everyone knew something amazing was about to happen. So just enough people were there and willing. And then all at once the DJ just played the music and everyone put the lights on their respective gear on! It was such an incredible Smirnoff moment. So perfect. I sat back and thought to myself. “Wow, I live such an amazingly cool and modern lifestlye”. I can’t believe I was there.

I just found out that Martin Scorcese filmed a portion of his next film “Ashecliffe” in my home town (one of them, I have 3: Brockton MA, Taunton MA, & Boston MA) Taunton. Taunton is a small city that I lived in for a good chunk of my childhood. It is about 45 mins south of Boston. Kind of near Rhode Island. It was a factory town that produced silver long ago. Many of the silver factories were still there when I was a kid and were abandoned. They are still there I guess and Scorsese tabbed one of them for his film. I started looking around for photos and found a bunch of cool photos of the factory and other parts of Taunton MA. Enjoy the slide show if you please.
